Home Remedies For Genital Odour In Women

Genital odour is an extremely embarrassing problem that will keep you mentally disturbed.  Treating or managing your body odour is easy and has many options. But most of us are diffident to take a step forward to resolve genital odour. The problem is more prominent in women, due to the anatomical and physiological peculiarities of vagina. A healthy genital area always keeps a distinct smell.  Before thinking of some tips to solve your problem, you have to identify the reason of your smelly vagina. Consult a doctor and make sure you don’t have other medical conditions like yeast fungal infections, leukorrhea or other genital diseases.

You may think that bad odour is due to poor hygiene. But this may not be true always. There are many other factors that will contribute to this like pH changes, certain medications or different stages of the menstrual cycle. Genital odour management is more imperative when it comes to your bedroom. This will take away all your self-confidence especially if the problem is noted and commented on by your partner. But do not worry. Here are some easy remedy tips for your awkward genital odour.

Personal hygiene: This plays an important role in avoiding smelly genitals. Wash the genital area regularly, especially if you sweat more than normal. Remember to wash thoroughly before coming out of toilet and after having sex.

Avoid excessive washing and use of douches:  Excessive washing will give you an opposite result. This will affect the normal pH balance of the vagina, causing bacteria other than normal commensals to grow and create a foul smell.

Wear panty liner and cotton under garments: Wearing a scented panty liner is an easy tip to try. This will absorb the excess discharge and sweat.  Give up those fancy synthetic panties, and prefer cotton undergarments. These will keep you dry and take away any bad odour.

Use apple cider vinegar. Apple cider vinegar is a natural anti-bacterial. Add 1 to 2 cups of it to your bath water and use it for washing your genital area. The vinegar helps to get rid of toxins and bacteria that causes genital odour.

Take yogurt: If you suspect yeast infection, adding yogurt to your diet may help. Yogurt is rich in lactobacillus, which helps to restore the normal vaginal pH level. Eat two cups of unsweetened, plain yogurt daily. Another option is to insert a tampon soaked in plain yogurt into vagina and washing it off thoroughly after some time.

Indian gooseberry: Include it in your diet as it is a natural blood purifier and organic cleanser which helps to control infections that may causes vaginal odour. It is a natural remedy for those who have leukorrhea.
