Hair Loss Due To Sweating? Try These...

Hair loss Due To Sweating? Try These...

Sensational hair is not just having a stunning hair style; it is also about healthy hair growth and proper hair care. When considering hair care in summer, it is a common doubt for all those who are exposed to that whether sweating has
any nasty effect on your precious hair or not.

Sweat is your body's way of cooling itself. Sebaceous glands in the hair follicles produce sebum that keeps the hair smooth. Like your face or other body parts, scalp also has numerous sweat glands that produces sweat. Glands associated with sweating are eccrine glands which are found all over the body and apocrine glands which are found in the hair follicles.

While some studies suggest that lactic acid in apocrine sweat affect keratin and result in hair loss, most other studies claim that sweat itself does not cause any harm to your hair. But at the same time, poor hair hygiene along with excessive sweating will make the situation different. Scalp is a surface where dead skin cells accumulate over time. If scalp is not washed regularly, oil, sweat and dead skin cells together can cause dandruff and skin infections which in turn result in hair loss.

Just like the skin of your face, your scalp also must be clean and clear for healthy hair growth. When sweat accumulates, your hair becomes dehydrated which accelerates hair loss. Scalp infections may occur due to the enlargement of the hair follicles from humidity produced by sweat. Blockage of the pores due to shed flakes of dead cells mixed with sweat can also cause the same. Skin infections will further cause itchy scalp and trigger hair loss.

How to avoid hair loss due to sweating?

 • In hot and humid conditions, wash your hair more often to remove sweat, oil, and dirt and care them.
 • Use clean cold water to wash your hair. Use a mild and pH balanced shampoo. Maintain good hair  hygiene in summers as you sweat more in this season. But frequent use of warm water or aggressive use of shampoo may lead to a dry itchy scalp.
 • Brushing your hair will not only increase air circulation, but will encourage blood flow to the scalp there by increasing hair growth.
 • Keep your hair loose. Avoid tying up hair too tight. After exercising, keep your hair loose so that it has room to breathe.
• Massage your scalp. Using a shampoo does not guarantee a clean scalp. Do an oil massage which will remove all the accumulated dirt from the scalp and clean it.
 • Steaming removes sweat and oil from the scalp and opens all clogged pores of your hair follicles.

Care your hair, because it is considered as a part of your youth, beauty, and good health. Follow the above hair care tips to prevent hair loss due to sweating.
