• Pay attention: It is more likely to forget appointments, addresses, PINs, and passwords which are considered as declarative memories, unless you make a concentrated effort to remember it. If you focus on any information without much distraction, you are more likely to recall it later.

• Visualize data: It may be a common habit that you forget why you walked into another room or why you opened the kitchen cabinet. The problem here is, either you are distracted or the thing to be done is not much worthy to be registered in your brain. The solution is to visualize what you want to do before even entering the room.

• Use your memory, not memory cards: Try to remember your dear one's phone number, birthday, anniversary and other important days. A conscious trial with an emotional effort will help.

• Keep a pen and paper ready: Keeping a sticky note pad in your kitchen, living room or bedroom will help you to list out things to be remembered.

• Chunking: Breaking information into smaller chunks makes it easier to remember. Phone numbers, postal codes, account numbers or grocery list can be made simpler by dividing it into small fractions. This will also help you to remember things.

• Misplace stuff: Moving your furniture, placing something on your floor or keeping a note about anything to be remembered near your alarm clock or key holder can help you to think about it next time when you notice this. The whole point is to do things differently than usual so you are forced to think as to why a particular thing is not on its usual place.

• Repeat it aloud: Repeating any information that you think is important to remember is an effective way.

• Sing it out: If you have a list of grocery with you, try to give it a tune of your favorite song or arrange first letters of the thing to make a single word.

• Have Consistency: If you have an attention issue and you keep forgetting where you put your keys, wallet, or bills, then the best way to solve this problem is by making it a habit to keep them in their respective places. This may sound difficult, but practice makes everything perfect.

• Create a memory spot: You can consider a particular place in your house as a memory spot. This can be a calendar, kitchen shelf, wallet, key holder or any other place which will grab your attention every day.

Try these tips to boost up your memory. It will surely make your life easier than you ever imagined.
