Even though not common, there are still parents who play favourites with their kids. This is by keeping one of their kids as favourite than the others. This favouritism can be showed up in any of these behaviours including the time you spend, the more privileges, less discipline or more freedom. The distinction may be due to the difference in the appearance, age, intelligence or gender. But, while you play favourites with your child, you have to remember that it will make a serious impact on the emotional health of your other kids. The way you treat your child has a great role in building up their character and behaviour.

Favouritism With Kids Can Spoil Them! |
Relationship gap:
The kids who feel avoided by their parents will definitely grow up with no
family bonds. They will not give importance to relationships as they didn’t
find it to have any role in their life. The relationship and attitude towards
siblings and parents will become weak if you play favouritism to one of your
children.
Emotional problems:
Emotional problems are the most common side-effect of playing favourites with
one of your kids. This may happen not only to the avoided one, but also to your
favourite one. The avoided kid will feel hatred towards the other and your
favourite kid may feel conscientious due to the partiality.
Resentment:
Resentment by your kid If you play favourite with one of your children, it will
make the other ones feel resentment towards your favourite kid. This dislike
may ultimately make them rebellious and anti-social.
Guilt: Problems of
your favouritism will affect your favourite kid as well. Your partiality will
make them feel guilty about receiving special love and care from you. This will
also affect family relations, especially that between the siblings.
Personality changes:
Since your kid develops their personality from family, if they find themselves
avoided, it will affect their overall personality. You should understand that
your kid who is weak in any aspect needs your special care and attention.
Ruined character:
The consequences of parental favouritism will result in spoiling your kids.
Kids who get a worse experience from their parents will become disruptive and
antisocial. The one who lived as your pet will become selfish as well.
Depression: As the
relationships in the family gets strained, chances are more for the avoided
kids to get depressed. This will certainly affect their future goals and
dreams. The mental state that a kid experience in his childhood will have great
impact on their future.
